Growing through exams

Today is the second week of my first semester assignment, meaning that it's my last week of semester 1. This has been fun and boring, hard and easy, full of ups and downs. Although through it all, I've been blessed to learn a lot, and not only learning things related to school, directly, but about life in general. I find that being at school, like this, is helping me to not only eventually get a job, but to grow as a person, to be a learner, and to move forward to become a greater me.     Taking this course has been a wise decision, as far as I am able to see at this point. I am not only learning in the sense of the single subject of digital prototyping. Here I am learning a lot and getting confirmations on things I've thought about or just heard about, in life in general. And it has been a lot of aha-experiences, to say the least.     These past two weeks, I have been working with the semester assignment, as I've written earlier in the text. The...

Growing Pain

While I have experience in the field of 3D from before and also some in CAD, I never expected it to be as difficult as it has been. I have had to really push myself to learn the basics in the beginning, because it is totally different from 3D modelling that leans towards art and not technical design. Technical design is still my beginning in 3D, as I came from learning Fusion 360 before anything else 3D.     This assignment I'm doing at the time of writing, is the last assignment of 2D technical drawing. And, the end of one, marks the beginning of another, the other being 3D technical drawing. This subject is something I will have lots of fun with, as I own 2 3D printers, and will be able to design my own prototypes in no time. I also have a VR headset, so you could say, well... I like to create things in 3 dimensions.      My experience with this assignment is that I have managed to put a lot of what I've learned together into one project, ...

Catching Up

It's been a busy few first weeks of school for me, I've had to get some personal things done first, which resulted in me being some days behind on schoolwork. I am also getting through a sickness at the moment, and I have needed plenty of rest through this, so I'm not exactly on schedule. However, I am determined to catch up with school.      This time around, the delivery is for us to make a coffee table. It is a fun and challenging task and today I have done some writing and also started on the drawing for the top of the assembly of the coffee table. Next will be to draw the two other parts, the screw, and then annotate the table, setting dimensions like the length of the legs, diameter of the circle that makes up the top part, etc... Lastly I will need to write the report and then double check everything, so that things are in order for the delivery to be approved.      I am learning to write as I make this blog as well, so please ba...

A few weeks in

It's now been about 3 and a half weeks since I started my studies at Noroff Digital Prototyping, I've had some setbacks which, quoting Les Brown, I see as a setup for a comeback. It's Thursday 10th of November at the day of writing this, and I'm now starting my most recent week in school. Not to worry, I did get an extension, however now I need to work hard to catch up, considering I'm doing a full-time study.     Yesterday I delivered my first module assignment. It was a great experience to get through this assignment. I've learned to use more of the AutoCAD tools, I've gotten more into the habit of writing the report, in addition we started reading in our curriculum books. The assignment was for us to make a drawing for 3 different views of a stove. In addition we could also draw it in isometric view, isometric view is a view from an angle, where you can see the top, side and front view at the same time. It's not using perspective, which means th...

Welcome

Hi there!  My name is Magnus, and I love 3D printing and 3D design. I am currently studying Digital Prototyping at Noroff in Norway. I am very excited to share my experiences and insights with you on this blog.     Noroff is a leading institute of technology and digital media in Norway, and the Digital Prototyping program is designed to give students a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of digital prototyping. This course will allow it's students to become whatever the person so chooses, out of these following professions: Mechanical Designer, Technical Drafter/Drawing, Structural Engineer, Product Designer, CAD Operator and Visualization Artist.      Throughout my studies at Noroff, I'll be sharing updates on the courses I'm taking, the projects I'm working on, and the skills I'm learning. I'll also be sharing my thoughts and impressions on the Industry and offer advice for anyone interested in pursuing a ...
